HEREFORD Pegasus booked their place in the Hellenic League Division One play-off final with a convincing 4-0 win over Clanfield.

Pegasus now head to Worcester Raiders' Sixways Stadium on Friday night (7.45pm) for the play-off final.

Going into their play-off semi-final Pegasus had to shake off the disappointment of the 1-0 Bank Holiday defeat at Clanfield.

There was as expected a distinct difference in playing styles, with home side opting for a direct route to goal whereas, the visitors play a more patient pleasing style to the eye.

The visitors shaded possession in what was a fairly even first half, with goal scoring opportunities few and far between.

Richard Greaves and Matt James went close with headers for the visitors in a tense first 45 minutes.

Ten minutes into the second period, Pegasus broke the deadlock with a goal from Carlos Moreira.

The ball was played out from defence to Jamie Price who passed to Cawley Cox rounding the full-back before finding Moreira who crashed the ball into the net past Luke Haley.

This sparked a reaction from the home side who tried to get back into the game, forcing four corners in quick succession.

George Seacole almost equalised but his headed effort was denied by the crossbar.

Pegasus weathered the storm and got their reward with a second goal.

Playing the ball out of defence a superb run and strike by substitute Paul Jones, doubled the score, drilling the ball into the far corner.

Minutes later, Greaves sent the away fans into a frenzy, by slotting home the third.

Cox was again the provider and Greaves did what was required.

In the closing minutes Greaves added his second of the afternoon as Pegasus continued to forge forward.

Saul Thomas shrugged off challenges from two defenders, before passing to Jordan Williamson, his shot was blocked and, rebounded to Greaves who picked his spot to seal a comfortable victory and a place in the final.
