WESTFIELDS completed their league campaign with a 5-0 defeat at Westbury seeing their opponents promoted to the Southern League South & West.

Westfields were left depleted with injuries and unavailability so fielded a number of their youth team members.

It was a carnival atmosphere for Westbury United who celebrated their victory in style, especially after player/manager Ricky Hulbert had put them ahead with only 14 minutes on the clock.

Westfields did have their moments and Sam Griffiths was not far away with a long-range effort whilst Harrison Summers and Dan Stoneman both worked hard down the flanks.

However, it was Westbury who doubled their lead at the interval through Will Thompson after Matt Apperley had parried Ricky Hulbert’s initial volley.

Two minutes after the break Westbury were 3-0 ahead when Apperley came racing out of his goal to challenge Harvey Flippance but Flippance was first to the ball and lobbed the goalkeeper into an unguarded net.

Westbury increased their lead when Hulbert netted his second goal of the afternoon from the edge of the box. And again after Apperley had saved an initial shot the ball ran free to Thompson who had the simple task of tapping the ball home to make it 5-0.

Westbury celebrated in style and almost added further goals but Apperley produced a full-length save to deny a sixth goal as Westbury United celebrated runners-up position in the league and promotion to the Southern League South & West.
