HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling said his side showed how ruthless his side can be during a 4-1 victory at Blyth Spartans.

Goals from Ryan McLean and a Tom Owen-Evans brace but Hereford three goals up in half an hour.

Despite Lewis McNall pulling a goal back moments before the break Harry Pinchard’s second half strike sealed the win.

"We weathered the storm a little bit at the start," said Gowling.

"I thought the first ten minutes they were a decent side, they put pressure on us, they got in good areas.

"Then we probably scored against the run of play to be honest, but I just thought we were really clinical in those moments.

“We've not been that of late which is probably why we drawn games but we were really clinical today.

"We looked at them in analysis and we looked at areas we could exploit. We knew their full backs were really expansive so we knew there was lots of space in those areas.

"With Tom (Owen-Evans) and Ryan (McLean) out there we thought we could get success out there and we did today.

"If you look at the intensity, the pressing and the work-rate I think that's been there but we probably have not been able to play football because of the elements or because of the pitches so it was nice today to come here.

"It was nice to get the ball down and play and you can see how ruthless we can be when we do it."

Pinchard started his first game for Hereford since picking up an injury which has ruled him out most of the season.

He marked his start with a second half goal from a curling shot.

"He did really well and took his goal really well,” added Gowling.

“He's got that creative spark for set plays and his deliveries are excellent. I'm really pleased for him because he's been itching to play.

“He's come in today and given a good performance like that.”
