WESTFIELDS have welcomed back Keanu Cooper as they prepare for a push at the Hellenic Premier title.

Last weekend Fields saw their home tie against Westbury United on Saturday postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Cooper has re-joined Phil Glover's side after leaving in the summer to play for Shifnal Town.

“We’re gearing up game by game," said Glover.

“We’re hoping to bring in some fresh faces this week and will have a good squad to pick from.

“We’ve also got a couple of lads coming back from injury so it will be a strong squad.

“The rest has done a few players good to get over a few niggles really."

After pulling back into the title race in December with an unbeaten run Fields were named Premier team of the month.

“It’s just a testament to the lads who have knuckled down and realised that we needed to get a string of results together to get us up the league,” added Glover.

“It has just been a real collective effort. Internally we set little goals for the amount of games and it was important that we picked up points and stopped in the hunt really.

“We had a points total that we wanted to get to that we actually went past.

“When teams get team of the month normally after that they have a dip so it’s just making sure we don’t have that really.

“It’s about keeping our levels up and looking forward to the next couple of months.”

This weekend Fields host a Royal Wootton Bassett side who suffered a 1-0 defeat at Hereford Lads Club last weekend.

Will Loughman scored the game's only goal as Lads Club took all three points and kept former Hereford striker John Mills quiet.

“They played at Lads Club last week but our result at Hallen showed how good they were on the day and fighting for points,” added Glover.

“We’ve got to worry first and foremost about ourselves and making sure ourselves are right and good so they will prove a good test.

“We’re looking forward to seeing John (Mills) at the weekend but hopefully he doesn’t have a good game.

“He is a proven goalscorer."
