HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling said that two mistakes cost his side as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Southport.

Gowling was left reflecting on a mistake by Jared Hodgkiss for the first goal where he tried to usher the ball out only it be kept in resulting in Jordan Archer scoring.

And then with time running out a back-pass by James Vincent got held in the mud allowing Connor Woods to score a second.

Gowling said: “Two mistakes, aren’t they?

“We spoke before the game about playing against the elements. The first goal we have tried to let it out when it’s just died.

“The second goal we’ve passed it back to the goalkeeper in a mud-bath it’s stopped and they have put the ball in.

“I’m not happy. You put all that work in and then make two mistakes which have cost us the game. I thought we had some decent chances as well.”

With more players returning from injury including Miles Storey and Ben Pollock the Bulls boss says he now has options ahead of the Curzon Ashton game next weekend.
