WESTFIELDS recorded their fourth league win on the bounce beating Royal Wootton Bassett 3-1.

The home side included former Hereford FC marksman John Mills in their line-up.

Despite the final result it was Royal Wootton Bassett, who took an eighth minute lead when striker Alan Griffin side-stepped three attempted tackles to place a low shot past Ian Havard.

Westfields came back into the game and drew level in the 27th minute through Josh Hunt who side-stepped a tackle and put a firm left-foot shot into the top left-hand corner of the goal.

Royal Wootton Bassett had a chance to restore their lead just before the break when Mills got free but his attempted lob shot went straight into the hands of goalkeeper Havard.

Westfields came out and scored within two minutes of the second half when Dan Stoneman got free down the right-hand side and his powerful cross was deflected into his own net by Royal Wootton Bassett defender John Beedon.

The visitors then enjoyed their best spell of play and went close to extending their lead when Matt McDonald and Dan Stoneman both had gilt-edged chances to increase the lead.

Westfields secured the 3-1 win in the 78th minute when another attack saw McDonald fire against the crossbar with the rebound hitting the goalkeeper and ending in the net.

Tomorrow night Westfields are at home to Longlevens, kick-off 7.45pm, in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Next Saturday Westfields travel to Fairford Town, kick-off 3pm, in another important Hellenic League Premier Division game.
