HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling rued his side's missed chances and opportunities as they fell to an opening day defeat at home against Farsley Celtic.

Gowling's side "switched off" when they conceded a first half free kick, with Farsley capitalising. Luke Parkin whipped the free kick into the box from the left but saw it curl in at the far post, with Brandon Hall left helpless in goal for Hereford.

Despite their fair share of chances, and Joey Butlin having a second-half penalty saved, the Bulls couldn't earn what would have been a deserved share of the spoils.

"We created enough chances to win a couple of games of football, but we weren't clinical enough," Gowling said.

"We switched off for one moment and got punished, so disappointing."

Ruing his sides missed chances, he said the Bulls neded to be more ruthless if they wanted to push up the National League North table this season.

"You look at the chances we've had, two or three opportunities in the first half and the penalty and Maz (Kouhyar)'s gone just wide, so when you look at it, if you take your chances you win the game.

"At the end of the day we're at home so you're not going to open a team up as much as what you possibly would do away from home.

"They're sitting back with five at the back sometimes so it's hard to ope them up, but I think we had enough opportunities today."
