EARDISLEY Tennis and Croquet Club are holding an open day to mark the completion of a second lawn.

The club have just finished an 18-month project aimed at improving the club's croquet facilities.

National Croquet Association President, Quiller Barrett, has accepted the club's invitation to open their newly constructed second lawn at 2pm on Saturday (August 14). The opening ceremony will precede an open afternoon when people can try their hand at croquet and find out more about the club.

Acquiring a second lawn has come at a time when there has been a surge in interest in croquet both locally and nationally during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Croquet is an outdoor sport which lends itself easily to social distancing.

It does not require great physical strength and can be played at a standard to suit the individual.

The sport also appeals to family groups.
