A WORLD-FAMOUS cricket team will travel to Herefordshire next weekend to play in a match raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice.
The MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) will play at Brockhampton Cricket Club on Sunday, July 4, against a select side made up of county-based players.
The MCC side features former Worcestershire and Somerset star Gareth Andrew, and ex-Herefordshire and Worcestershire player Matt Rawnsley.
The fundraiser is a tribute to former Brockhampton CC captain Andrew Watkins who died at St Michael’s in 2019.
"Andrew was cared for with love, dedication and compassion, and the greatest empathy anyone could wish for," said Andrew’s mum, Sue.
As well as the cricket, there will be the opportunity for spectators to purchase traditional ‘cricket teas’, and enjoy performances from a jazz band.
Younger supporters can take part in a Kwik Cricket tournament.
Play begins at 11.30am.
Entry is £10 per car and can be booked via the St Michael’s Hospice website or paid on the day.
