ROSS-ON-WYE maintained their charge in the GB Liners Marches League Division One after beating challengers Almeley.

Both sides had records records heading into the match. Ross elected to bowl with Adam Davies and Adam Parkes immediately piled pressure on the batsmen, with the latter picking up three wickets.

Opener Cory Wood (29) was the only significant contributor with the bat as they fell for 68.

Ross skipper Tony Laws and Josh Element also picked up three wickets.

Graham Howls top-scored with 23 as Ross cruised to a quick and satisfying win.

Ross' seconds unfortunately came up short by 27 runs in chasing Burghill, Tillington and Weobley CC's first innings total of 178.

In the Worcester League Premier, Colwall were heavily beaten by Astwood Bank, Brockhampton narrowly lost out to Stourbridge despite Nicholas Powell’s 94, and Bromyard enjoyed a ten wicket win over Worcester after bowling them out for 86.

Bartestree and Lugwardine also enjoyed a dominant display posting 321 to win, they bowled their opposition out for 128.

Woolhope seconds continued their unbeaten start to the season with a decisive victory over travelling Kington  2nds.

An opening partnership of 91 between Matt Slocombe (53) and Terry Spry (33) gave Woolhope a solid start, but Kington were able to peg back the middle order with accurate bowling from Cromar (3-20) and O Hughes (3-29). Woolhope were however able to post a competitive total following a fine 42 from Matt Taylor and a quick 55 not out from George Griffin.

In reply Kington were soon in trouble after a devastating opening spell from George Griffin (4-9) and Sholto Lacey(4-14) , and were finally bowled out for 113 after stubborn resistance from N Dinsdale , B Lloyd and L Ward.

Woolhope remain unbeaten at the top of the Marches League Division 3.
