WESTFIELDS have welcomed former Bulls favourite Tony James into their coaching set-up.

Defender James made over 270 appearances for Hereford United between 1998 and 2006.

"Tony is really keen and has bags of experience," said Fields manager Phil Glover.

"Scott Jackson is taking a little step back due to family and work commitments so we needed that extra person.

"I know Tony away from football and he was really excited by it and getting back into senior football.

"He's already done a few sessions last season so knows that lads."

Fields will be targetting promotion out of the Hellenic Premier Division again this season.

Glover says there will be a few new faces but not 'wholesale changes' during the new campaign.

Westfields will begin their pre-season by hosting Cwmbran Celtic at home on Thursday, July 8, before hosting Hereford FC on Tuesday, July 13.

"It come early in our programme so we're coming back into training a week earlier," Glover added.

"We don't know how many fans we will be allowed yet but it should be a good crowd of local football supporters."

Fields will also play Bristol Manor Farm (H) on July 17; Bewdley Town (H) July 20; Moneyfields (A) July 24; Cinderford Town (H) July 27 and Penybont (A) July 31.

"We wanted our pre-season to be really competitive and so we have got some good tests," added Glover
