A SECOND half strike by substitute Keanu Cooper gave Westfields a 1-0 victory over Longlevens in a friendly match.

After just 20 seconds with the opening move of the game Aiden Thomas forced space out wide before crossing to Richard Greaves who was only denied by a fine close-range save.

Sam Gwynne was next to test the goal as Fields worked the ball into the box, but sent his shot just wide.

Thomas was on form and turned into space before seeing his effort blocked on the 13th minute before heading over moments later.

Another stinging shot was sent at the Longlevens goalkeeper again by Thomas as they looked to take authority on the game before Daniel Stoneman also saw a direct free-kick saved.

Sam Rawlings was also denied by the Longlevens shot stopper with his rasping effort picked out of the air.

Just before the break Stoneman also flashed a shot across the face of goal as Fields played the ball from one side of the field to the other.

In the second half Fields continued to press and Thomas fired an effort inches wide.

Longlevens' best chance came in the 68th minute when a quick pass caught Westfields out and with charging goalkeeper Brandon Powell beaten the visitors could only steer their effort wide.

A minute later Fields were ahead when a ball inside the box by Stoneman found substitute Cooper who eloquently found the top corner with his effort.

Greaves also went close again with 12 minutes remaining with an effort that just dropped wide as Fields were comfortable winners.

  • Westfields also moved into the semi-final of the Herefordshire County Cup on Thursday night with a 6-0 win over Ewyas Harold.

Cooper scored the opener before Thomas scored his first of a hat-trick.

Karim Pare and veteran defender Ryan Green were also on the score sheet for Westfields.
