HEREFORDSHIRE FA chief executive officer Alan Darfi is 'cautiously optimistic' that action will return in April with the leagues and cups being completed this season.

Darfi says that two proposals have been agreed with the clubs and management committee.

If the Herefordshire County League is allowed to continue in April the Premier Division would be split in two based on a points per game average.

That would allow the top half teams to play for the league title.

Divisions One and Two would also continue but teams would only play each other once.

The second proposal would be if action was not allowed until May.

"The management committee will be liaising with clubs to see how much time they need to get up and running," said Darfi.

"The proposals are based on the number of weeks left and the fact that all cup competitions will be completed.

"The feedback from clubs is to avoid extending the season into June which we could have done.

"Everybody is working really hard to make sure we can start as soon as we get the green light from the Government.

"The committees and leagues have been led and supported by excellent volunteers."

Meanwhile, Westfields will return to action with a friendly at against Longlevens on Saturday, April 10.

They will then travel to Long Eaton United in the FA Vase fourth round on Saturday, April 17.

Both of these games will be held behind closed doors.

The fifth and sixth rounds and semi-final will then be played on consecutive weekends.

The Non-League Finals Day, featuring both the FA Trophy (which could include Hereford) and FA Vase Finals will be held at Wembley on Saturday, May 22, with limited spectators in line with the UK Government’s ‘roadmap out of lockdown’.
