The Village Peoples Online Bridge Club

The celebrated its 40th week in fine style on Thursday, January 28, when 19 couples competed.

Helen Earley and Anna Macbean (combined age 155), back to back Top Guns, beat their closest contenders Liz Drew and Adrian Lunt by 20 IMPs, meanwhile, sending Gill Boase and Dorothy Johnson (combined age 160) tumbling out of the top division.

Andrew Joyce and Frances Middleton were the Kings top pair and together with Helen Powers and Daniel Pearce Higgins, were promoted to the Aces Division and a shot at the 'Top Gun' accolade next week.

Carol Dixon and Bethan Kain, relative newcomers, collected a record 66 international match points and the Queens Division's crown.

It was good to see Bridge beginners Janet Jenman and Keith Claridge claw themselves out of the bottom division just ahead of Mary and James Organ.

Colin Palmer has made the draw for the New Year Charity Bridge Cup with 16 pairs competing for the "Village Peoples" IMPs knockout cup over the next six weeks, with, charitable donations going to local charities.

Mick Heir has made the draw for the Inter Village Teams competition.

After Ledgemore thrashed all comers last year, there may be some old scores to settle.
