- The Bulls had the first opening as Kyle Finn cut inside before finding the head of Lenell John-Lewis, but his effort flew over.
- However, it was the Harriers who took an eighth minute lead when Brandon Hall could only flap at a corner into a crowd of players which dropped down for Luke Maxwell to rifle home.
- Against his former club James McQuilkin leveled on 16 minutes firing hard and low across the goalkeeper and into the net.
- As Hereford looked to apply pressure the visitors were deduced to 10 men on 27 minutes.

- A neatly worked free-kick almost gave Hereford a 39th minute lead, but Chris Camwell's low effort was deflected just wide.
