HEREFORD assistant manager Steve Burr is targeting FA Trophy success as the Bulls moved into the third round following a 3-0 win over St Neots Town.

“I love the FA Trophy, I’ve been successful as a player in it and have come close as a manager a few times in getting a team to Wembley,” said Burr talking to Keith Hall.

“There is no better feeling than getting the opportunity to play at Wembley and this is our opportunity to do that.

“It would be nice to take Hereford there to a final as I know the kind of support they would take which they showed last time in the FA Vase.

“For us every game is important to win for the fans and everybody connected with the club.”

First half goals from Jamie Grimes and Kyle Finn put the Bulls in charge against St Neots Town before Lenell John-Lewis sealed their passage with a third goal.

“It’s nice to get another win and get through to the next round of the FA Trophy,” said Burr.

“There was a big emphasis on doing a professional job and the attitude had to be right. I thought our football was really good and second half disappointed we didn’t score more goals.

“We are through to the next round which is the main thing. It breeds confidence and we had a good performance on Saturday (2-1 victory over AFC Fylde) and it was good to back that up with another good performance and another win here at Edgar Street.

“Full credit to St Neots they came here and tried to play and kept playing right the way through. I think in the end we had too much for them and goals in the first half came at the right time.

“I thought in the end it was a really good and professional performance by the lads. When you win games it makes it easier going into the next game.”

Hereford will be without defender Kennedy Digie for Saturday’s trip to Nantwich Town in the FA Trophy third round.

Digie is out with a hamstring and it is hoped will return for the Boxing Day tie against Kidderminster Harriers.
