RISING star Rhian McGinley capped the end of a memorable season by winning Ross Golf Club's 36-hole Ladies Club Championship.

McGinley has seen her handicap drop this season from 13 to 11.

In the final she was playing Erika Atkins, an experienced A team player, who also plays off 11.

It was a tight match with Atkins in the lead by two after the first round, but McGinley kept her cool and gradually gained the lead going two-up with a birdie on the seventh. Eventually after the 15th Rhian was three-up with three to play.

However, perhaps feeling the pressure, she lost the 16th hole to give her opponent a glimmer of hope.

McGinley played the 17th hole steadily to achieve a well deserved win and to become the 2020 Ladies Champion.

The final of the 18-hole Ladies Summer knockout was won in a tight match on the 17th hole by Ruth Kirchmeier who was playing against Denise Laird.

Kirchmeier also won the Final Medal Salver for 2020.

The final of the Ladies Bronze Scratch Cup was won by Pam Duke, the runner-up being Jennifer Reeve-Tucker.
