A PUPIL at a Herefordshire school has been selected for the Elite Player Pathway for England Cricket.
Bertie Michael, is a Year 8 boy at The Elms School in Colwall.
"This is an amazing achievement as only the very best who show huge potential get selected," said a statement from the school.
"Bertie is a fantastic all-round sportsman and has always had a natural gift for cricket.
"He spends all of his free time training and playing for school, club and Gloucestershire county."
The Emerging Players Programme (EPP) provides one on one training for those that the Gloucestershire Cricket Board assess can develop to the top of the county performance groups and beyond.
Only one or two cricketers are chosen from each year, between the age groups of under-13 and under-16. "Bertie fully deserves this as he has been the top county scoring batsman for the last three years," added the school's spokesman.
"He also has a batting average of over 100 for his club. He is most certainly one to watch for the future!"
