BROCKHAMPTON Cricket Club recently welcomed six teams from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire for a girls' cricket festival.

The competition was part of the ECB Women’s Big Cricket Month to promote girls/women’s cricket.

Teams included Brockhampton CC, Lady Hawkins School, Malvern St James and Burghill with girls ranged from 10 to 16 years old playing some exciting cricket.

Karen Bubb and Marie Ferreira organised the event to encourage girls to play cricket and to have some fun. Karen said: “The benefits of playing sport and being a member of a team are far reaching.

"Girls cricket is becoming more popular but it’s not often events are just organised for girls, it gives them so much more confidence playing with and against girls.”

Any girls interested in playing cricket at Brockhampton CC should contact mferreira@icloud.com.

Alternatively girls should contact their local club for more information.
