HEREFORD assistant manager Steve Burr predicts a busy week for Hereford FC as they prepare to start the season next Saturday ay Gosport Borough.

However, he was left disappointed by Hereford’s 1-0 defeat at Chippenham Town after the Bulls fell to a first half goal.

“It’s going to be a busy week and preparations have been far from ideal,

“We’re getting close to starting this time next week so we’ll have to nail one or two down now and finalise the squad.

“It was very disappointing today and I thought the game was poor. After the last couple of friendlies against Solihull where we showed some good signs we were really disappointed with how things went today.

“I think we thought we could turn up here and our football would win us the game without putting the hard work in.

“To be fair to Chippenham they worked and stopped us playing so credit to them. It doesn’t matter what club you’re at you’ve got to earn the right to put a foothold in the game and win matches, we didn’t do enough of that today.

“There wasn’t that many chances in the game, it was a poor game all around really and from the dugout you want to see things that excite you and I didn’t really see a lot today that did that.

“Today we just thought we’d turn Chippenham over playing football, but you have to earn the right and we certainly didn’t do that today.”

The Bulls were without talisman Lenell John-Lewis who is returning from a slight injury and lacked a cutting edge against National League South side Chippenham.

“Lenny (John-Lewis) is going to be back full training next week so all being well he’ll be available for Saturday,” added Burr

“We miss him, he’s a pivotal figure in the team. But I always think if somebody is out injured it gives somebody else an opportunity to stake a claim.”
