REIGNING GB Liners Marches League champions Wormelow finished their group two campaign with a perfect record following a convincing seven-wicket victory over local rivals Goodrich.

After winning the toss Goodrich opted to bat first and openers Sam Griffiths (19) and Adam Seymour (30) combined in an opening stand of 41.

Wickets then began to tumble as spinners Luke Sparrow (3-15) and Ben Porter (3-34) got to work and, with assistance from James Snow (2-28), the visitors were all out for 127 off the first ball of the last of their allotted 40 overs.

The Wormelow reply got off to a solid start before they lost Rich Stafford (10) and the in-form Jasper Linley-Adams (0) in quick succession, Chris Tookey (2-35) with both wickets.

Luke Jones (46) and Snow then moved the score along at a rapid rate, when Jones eventually departed youngster Oliver Langford (10no) joined Snow and they saw the home side to victory in the 21st over.

Snow ending unbeaten after scoring a particularly destructive 48 from 29 balls.

Wormelow will now host Marches League Group One winners Builth Wells in a play-off at Kennelfield on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Ledbury seconds overcame Knighton-on-Teme in a tight encounter.

Knighton’s first wicket fell on 52 runs with the introduction of off-spinner Brandon Caffull bowling Robbie James for 10.

Ledbury debutant 14-year-old Joe Pugh took the prize wicket of opener Adam Brownhill, falling just two runs off a well deserved century as Knighton made 201 runs off their 40 overs.

In response Ledbury found themselves 91-4.

Steve Burgess (36) and Brandon Caffull (40) both struck boundaries with support from both Chris Ritchie (12) and Simon Ritchie (20).

However, with good bowling and pressure from the Knighton bowlers and the vital wicket of skipper Watkins on one Ledbury looked in trouble.

They found the 14-year-old pair of Pugh and Jack Cambridge at the crease on 191-9, needing 10 to win off three overs.

Both combined with Cambridge hitting a two to win following a very close game.
