BROCKHAMPTON all-rounder Nick Powell took 4-15 in the first innings as his side got their Worcestershire County League Premier Division Cup off to a perfect start.

After being relegated from the Birmingham League last season the Parks side have been left waiting for their return to Worcestershire League action.

After Colwall chose to bat only opener Oliver Hugo Cox provided any resistance with 27 runs on to help Colwall to 50-4.

Despite Freddie Coleman (22) and skipper James Wagstaff (37) sharing a stand of 63 Powell soon skittled out the tail for 142.

After losing two early wickets Brockhampton found some momentum with Ian Bullock and Glyn Harrhy sharing a 27 run stand.

However, two quick wickets from Jack Knight-Adams and Michael Gooch left Brockhampton in a perilous position of 56-6.

Harrhy found support from the Brockhampton tail (Max Porter 10, Michael Harling 20 and Charlie Scott 18) and finished on 144-8 with Harrhy 39 (not out) anchoring the innings home.

Meanwhile, Burghill, Tillington and Weobley suffered an agonising opening day defeat also in the Premier Division Cup.

Despite being put into bat Burghill looked bright as opener Oliver Maund hit 49 accompanied by Whizz Ettinger (26) and Barney Morgan (33).

However, the middle and lower order failed to provide the same resistance with them finishing their 40 overs on a respectable 192/7.

In response openers Guy Davies (97) and Sam Roberts (50) paved the way for Worcester to finish on 195 after 39.3 overs.

It couldn't have been closer in the Regional Championship Trophy as Eastnor tied with Bartestree and Lugwardine after both sides were bowled out for 110.

In the other Group C Trophy game Brockhampton seconds failed to reach Barnards Green's target of 185, finishing 41 runs short.

Tim Walsh scored an outstanding knock of 137 with 14 fours and 10 sixes as he helped Burghill, Tillington and Weobley seconds to victory over Bredon seconds.

Under-15s Alex Powell scored 28 quick runs towards to end of the innings on his debut to help his side to 310/8.

Burghill kept the pressure with opening bowler Amy Maund getting both the openers out cheaply before Marius Botha took 3-36 on his debut.

Also in the Shield competition Bromyard seconds set an unattainable target of 203/7 as they overcame Bartestree & Lugwardine seconds by 20 runs.

Half centuries by skipper Edd Oliver (71no) and Martin Reece-Pitt (59) helped their side to set a big target for their hosts.

With the ball Max Rowley took three early wickets leaving Bartestree on 34-5 before a late stand by Jayashekara Acharya (45) and Stanley Lunt (37no) gave the hosts a boost.
