WOMEN'S football in Herefordshire will have a new look next season but with some familiar faces involved.

After being awarded the Midwest Counties Football League title last season Lads Club Ladies are becoming Pegasus Ladies this coming season.

Lads Club chairman Marcus Jenkins said that the move was a perfect one to keep the current side together who have won two league titles in three seasons.

"I'm more involved with the Lads Club as chairman now and I've got a lot of other roles to look after as well," said Jenkins.

"My daughter doesn't play any more either so my involvement was not the same. It just so happened Pegasus were look to put together a ladies team and two of our players are Kevin Bishop's daughters so it was a natural thing.

"It made sense to retain that team and move it across to Pegasus and the timing was right.

"It would have been a shame for the team to fold as they play so well together and know each other."

Meanwhile following the news that Hereford FC Academy would not be running next season, their two sides have remained together and will play under different club names.

The previous Hereford FC Women's team will become Westfields Women with Ben Archer remaining as head coach with Carly Jacob his assistant.

Westfields chief executive Andy Morris was delighted to welcome the side and is looking forward to the club having a ladies team.

"Ben and Carly came to see us we knew they were already playing a good standard of football," said Morris.

"We decided to accept them into the club. Carly is a coach at Hartpury College and we have a good connection with them with one of two of our first team studying there.

"It will be our first involvement with senior ladies football. Women's football is on the up and it also helps with our FA Charter Standard programme which we are heavily involved with."

Meanwhile last year's Hereford FC Women's Development players are joining with the existing Bartestree Ladies team to play in the Midwest Counties Football League.

They will be coached by Kyle Eaton with the young former Bulls stepping up to the women's senior league after playing in the Herefordshire Development League last season.

"It just kind of worked with Bartestree wanting to come back into women's football but not having enough players," said Eaton.

"We (former Hereford FC Women's Development side) wouldn't have had enough players to regularly play in the Midwest Counties League.

"The development side played a few friendlies against teams from that level last season. I also coached the Hereford Women's first team so I know that league."
