Hereford's National League North season is over after the majority of clubs voted to end the 2019-20 season immediately.

Hereford, who were 15th in the league when the season was halted on March 31, can now prepare for the next season after a turbulent campaign since August.

The Bulls started the season with Marc Richards as head coach. He was sacked just three games into the season and former Cardiff City manager Russell Slade drafted in.

Less than five months later Slade left by mutual consent and Josh Gowling became interim player-manager for the remainder of the season.

League bosses will sort out promotion and relegation outcomes for other clubs in the three National League divisions "under careful consideration".

Clubs in the National League, National League North - including Hereford - and National League South divisions that have not yet voted still have an opportunity to do so, the league's board said, but it "would not change the outcome".

The Hereford Times previously reported how the Bulls would be voting in favour of ending the season immediately.

A National League statement said: "In the knowledge that the ordinary resolution has passed, the League’s Board has chosen to communicate the decision now and before the last few responses are received, which will not change the outcome, to enable clubs to make business decisions with greater clarity as soon as possible.

"Clubs yet to respond still have an opportunity to do so, and the League wishes to include as many preferences as possible before the final voting result is declared.

“At a time when the entire country is wrestling with the devastating impact of Covid-19, the cancellation of the remaining normal season matches brings a degree of certainty to our Clubs coping with the business implications of the virus.”

"In consideration of the very serious and unprecedented national public health emergency caused by the coronavirus, National League, National League North and National League South football activities have been suspended since 16 March.

"The options concerning the sporting outcomes of the 2019/20 season remain under careful and timely consideration, and further updates will be given in due course."
