HEREFORD Sixth Form College have been crowned West Midlands champions and will represent the region at the AOC National 7’s event in Nottingham.
The sixth form college, who run the Hereford Rugby Academy programme, beat Worcester, Shrewsbury, Birmingham Met, Solihull & Dudley on their way to the regional final where they beat the Wasps RFC affiliated Coventry College in the 19-12.
The Hereford Sixth Form College programme sees its students receive high quality coaching alongside first class academic and vocational courses at the Ofsted ‘outstanding college’.
The team will represent the West Midlands at the AOC Nationals which is takes place at Nottingham University over three days and is the largest annual sporting student event in Europe.
Hereford will be facing sides including Exeter College (Exeter RFC), Myerscough College (Sale RFC), Bishops Burton College (Yorkshire Carnegie) as well as the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland champions.
Head of rugby Kieram Hallam is expecting a tough three days facing some of the hottest talents in the under-18 rugby sevens scene, but with hard work and good fortune he feels the squad can medal at the event.
