- The Bulls got off to a perfect start going ahead inside four minutes with Jared Hodgkiss' driven cross flicked onto the post and Kelsey Mooney slid home the rebound.
- Despite York probing for a way back into the tie it was Hereford who doubled their lead.
- Tom Owen-Evans' free-kick found Lenell John-Lewis who headed home from close range.
- York looked for a response and Sean Newton had a chance, but sent his header just over.
- Dan McGuire was next to go close but after running free on goal Martin Riley came across to make a vital block.
- York showed their warning signs on the 24th minute when a flicked header rattled the bar before Kieran Green squandered the rebound.
- The hosts thought they had pulled a goal back after 27 minutes after Kallum Griffiths cross is met by Jordan Burrow who beat the goalkeeper but not the off-side flag.
