LUDLOW RFC will try ‘something different’ this week in a bid to cure their travel sickness when they visit lowly Droitwich, promises head coach Mikey Jones.

First half tries from James Mear, Kieron Pinches and Tom Amphlett, all converted by Will Sparrow, gave Ludlow an impressive 21-7 victory over Whitchurch last weekend.

The win lifted Ludlow to sixth in Midlands One West but to progress higher they need to end a run of seven straight away defeats, albeit most have been by narrow margins.

Jones said: “We want to try to buck the trend of our away results. We know Droitwich will be targeting us, looking at our away form.

“So we are going to be trying something different this week in training and with our preparation for the game, to try to take our home form on the road.

“If we had turned some of those narrow defeats into wins, you could add another 20 points on to our total.

“If we want to be a permanent fixture in the top half of the division we need to go away to sides below us and not just win, but win convincingly."
