STRIKER Mike Symons says that his four years with the Bulls has been the best of his career and that he is ‘gutted’ to be leaving the club.

The 33-year-old marksman signed for Hereford during their first season since re-forming as Hereford FC and has helped them to three league titles.

However, after being left on the side-lines for over a month without playing any first team football, Symons has now joined Weston-Super-Mare on a permanent deal until the end of the 2020/21 season.

“It has been the best four years of my career,” said Symons.

“Obviously when I came to Hereford the stature of the club and the project which was put before me, it was the best decision I have ever made and I’ve had a very happy four years.

“The first three years especially and playing at Wembley with the unbeaten run. I have made a lot of great friends along the way and played with some excellent players.

“We achieved a lot as a group and it was very enjoyable. Since I have walked through the door everybody has been fantastic to me, the fans, volunteers and the club.

“I have made a lot of friends and I’m gutted to be leaving, but my time has come to an end and hopefully the club can kick on.”

Symons had previously played National League football with Forest Green Rovers along with stints at Gloucester City, Worcester City and Oxford City.

The striker hopes to use his experience in the National League South to boost Weston up the league table.

He added: “At the age of 33 I wanted a fresh challenge and I want to play football and I wasn’t going to play much for the rest of the season.

“In the last six or seven weeks I haven’t really been playing too much. Looking at the Weston squad they have got some very good players.

“Hopefully I can go in and put my experience into the group. Hopefully I can kick on there and help to push them up the table and hopefully get promotion.”
