- Hereford go into the game after a lackluster 3-1 defeat at local rivals Kidderminster Harriers on Boxing Day.
- ROLLING MATCH REPORT
- Desperately searching for their first win in the National League North since October, Hereford looked the slightly brighter of the two sides in the opening exchanges.
- Victor Sodiende was one of the four changes made to the side that started in Thursday's 3-1 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers, but he went agonisingly close to taking the lead in the fourth minute.
- He linked up well with Jordan Nicholson as he was burst through Leamington's defence, but his shot flashed across the face of goal as it went wide at the far-post.
- Four minutes later Hereford were caught off-guard as Leamington broke forward after dispossessing Jordan Nicholson in midfield. Despite working the ball forward to Kaiman Anderson, the offside flag went up against the visitors' front man.
- Two chances then followed for Hereford as they tried to get a foothold in the game.
- First, Nicholson wasn't able to control an accurate cross into the box from Danny Greenslade, and the ball rolled out for a goal kick,.
- But less than 60 seconds later Victor Sodeinde forced Jake Weaver between the sticks for the hosts into a fine save.
- Sodeinde was able to cut inside the area before getting a powerful shot away, but somehow it was pushed wide by Weaver for a fruitless corner.
- Inside 20 minutes at Edgar Street Hereford found themselves once again facing an uphill battle as Leamington took the lead.
- A corner from Junior English was swung into the box, but it appeared Brandon Hall put it into the back of his own net.
- The Bulls did seek a reaction straight away as Peter Vincenti saw an effort saved by the feet of the keeper. He reacted quickest as an initial effort from Sodeinde rebounded into the 18-yard box.
- He showed some good footwork as he weaved his way into the box from the left, and his shot from a tight angle couldn't be kept out by visiting keeper Weaver.
- A disastrous start to the second half saw Hereford fall a goal behind within the opening minute.
- Leamington regained possession in midfield after intercepting a poor pass from Tommy O'Sullivan to Stephen Dawson, and good work from Dexter Walter saw him carry the ball forward into the box.
- Walter then teed up Kaiman Anderson who curled the ball home.
- A second chance came moments later as this time Walters tried to find to the top corner of the net, but his ball was inches wide of the far post.
- With 63 minutes on the clock Vincenti did well to find Sodeinde in the penalty box, but his run was brought to an abrupt end with a strong challenge.
- With the referee waiving the penalty claims away, Vincenti rose tallest to head just wide from the resulting corner.
- Chances followed for substitute Alex Bray and Tommy O'Sullivan, but neither could find the target with their efforts.
- Chances then became a premium for both sides as the game petered out, with the Bulls bound to be ruing their missed opportunities and going a goal down so early in the second half.
