Hereford's captain Jared Hodgkiss admits confidence is still quite low in the changing room, despite picking up two points in their last two games.

The Bulls were unlucky not to come away with all three points on Saturday as they drew 1-1 with Farsley Celtic, and they pushed York City all the way in Tuesday evening's 2-2 draw.

The right-back said the side haven't been performing well enough, but things are starting to improve.

"We did well, disappointed with the goals but it's a building block," Hodgkiss said.

"The manager is really pleased because I think he can see the potential coming out of us.

"It's been a slow process, we all know that, so you need to get partnerships going. It's hard to get partnerships going because there's been no consistency.

"We've not performed well enough this season and everyone can see that, but the last few games have been better.

"The lads are upbeat and there's more positivity around the dressing room."

Hodgkiss added that York's players probably felt they were lucky to get a point as they left it until the 80th minute to equalise.

"I think we more than matched them if I'm honest, they will probably go away thinking they've got away with one there as they've scored so late on," he said.

"Confidence is a little bit low still, so if we can just eradicate the couple of mistakes that we are making that's punishing us at the minute then I think we can have a good second half of the season.

"We just need a bit of consistency more than anything and we can only get that if we're playing well week in, week out, which we haven't done.

"We're starting to now so if we can get a bit of consistency in picking the team and getting partnerships then I think we can get a good second half of the season."
