SHOBDON darts player Jim Williams says he has ‘nothing to lose’ when he faces the world number one and current World Champion Michael van Gerwen live on television this evening.

Williams who plays in the amateur based British Darts Organisation (BDO) will face professional van Gerwen in the Grand Slam of Darts group match tonight live on Sky Sports, with the evening session starting at 8pm.

The Grand Slam of Darts sees competitors from both the BDO and Professional Darts Corporation circuits compete against each other.

Last year Williams reached the last-32 stage of the televised Grand Slam of Darts and was semi-finalist in the BDO World Championships.

In the Grand Slam of Darts, Williams will face top seed van Gerwen and two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis along with Ross Smith (yet to be scheduled).

Speaking to Sky Sports, Williams said: "It's a perfect draw I think.

“[Michael] Van Gerwen - everybody wants the opportunity to play him don't they? Adrian Lewis has been awesome for years so I was really happy with it.

"You always feel pressure because we don't get to play on television that much. You want to try and impress so you've got that pressure. As for playing Van Gerwen and Lewis - it doesn't bother me, because I've got nothing to lose.

"The pressure is different really. Rather than playing the person the pressure is more on yourself and your performance I suppose."
