A BUMPER crowd of more than 2,000 racegoers flocked to Hereford Racecourse for its first fixture of the season in October and racing returns to the track on Monday (November 4), with the Hereford FC Academy Raceday.

A partnership between Hereford Racecourse and Hereford FC Academy has been forged with the aim of raising awareness and funds to help nurture future footballing talent at the club.

In 2016, Hereford FC's promotion coincided with the re-opening of the racecourse, and the two organisations have worked closely together since.

The race day incorporates a six-race jumping card being complimented by plenty of football-related activities taking place around the racecourse. Jockeys will take on the footballers in a penalty shoot-out before racing and Hereford FC players will be on hand throughout the day.

Season ticket holders at Hereford FC have been able to take advantage of a complimentary tickets in the build-up to the meeting.

Hereford Racecourse Executive Director Rebecca Davies said: “We are thrilled to be working so closely with Hereford FC, both have had our challenges in the past but together we are helping the city enjoy a sporting resurgence.

"We hope many season ticket holders will come and enjoy the day for free and that together we can raise a substantial amount to ensure that the successful academy continues to nurture the county’s footballing talent of the future.

"The team at Hereford Racecourse are looking forward to welcoming both players and fans of Hereford FC, along with all other racegoers."

Gates open at 12:15, with the first race at 1.50pm. General admission and restaurant packages are still available including the Hereford FC restaurant. To book in advance visit www.hereford-racecourse.co.uk.
