TALENTED members of Ross Golf Club clinched the Ken Newman Cup following a season of impressive performances.

Through the North Gloucestershire Junior League and Mercian League structure the Ross Juniors squad of five members won their division with wins against teams from Burghill Valley and Forest of Dean Golf Clubs to take part in the regional final held at Cirencester Golf Club.

On the day the Ross team under the captaincy of three handicapper Harry Griffiths alongside Rhys and Rhian McGinley, Abbie Bishop and Matty Dobbs.

The youngsters excelled with a great collective spirit and took victory scoring 163 points total followed by Kings Norton 158 pts, Minchinhampton 151 pts and Broadway 131 pts.

This took the Ross squad to the Studley Wood Golf Club in North Oxfordshire to compete for the Champion of Champions Salver tournament.

The team of Rhys, Rhian, Abbie, Matty, Phoebe Barber and Jayden Decloedt all contributed which saw Ross amass 162 pts to finish in third place just eight points behind champions Trentham Juniors and runners-up Bromsgrove Juniors 167 pts.

The 2019 personal achievements of those in the

juniors squad have also been remarkable with many in adult competitions with Rhys McGinley winning him the Hospital Cup and the McGinley family dominated the annual THSG Adult/Junior Cup won by Rhys & Tim Wyatt with Rhian and her Dad, Jonathon being runners-up.

Not to be outdone Rhian McGinley went on to win both Ladies Summer Knock-out and Ladies Centenary Cup.
