A HUSBAND and wife duo have set-up a new inclusive football club in Leominster.

Leominster Inclusive Sports offers adults and children with a disability the opportunity to play football regularly and take part in competitions locally and nationally.

The team train on Saturdays at the Barons Cross Inn and have already had success after coming away with a winners trophy from a Special Olympic event.

The team was created by Phil and Kelly Hall after their three children were seeking somewhere to play more football.

"My three boys wanted to more football so me and my husband created this inclusive club," said Kelly.

"After doing our own research we found that there is a lack of opportunities for the disabled in the area.

"Since then we have affiliated our club to the Herefordshire FA and recently just signed up as being part of Herefordshire Special Olympics."

The team train between 11am and noon for children and between noon and 1pm for adults.

The cost is £2 per session and £10 membership which includes a full kit.

Kelly said that it is not just those with disabilities that the club is open for.

She added: "We started doing football for children with disabilities but we wanted to include everybody not just those with disabilities as some teams don't have that inclusion.

"We are trying to include everybody even if you haven't kicked a football in your life, we will try and include them.

"Even if you have poor mobility, it's all about fun."

The team recently travelled down to Camden in London for a Special Olympic event.

Their small team of mixed ability players consisted of men and women for the five-a-side event.

After travelling three hours the side had a shaky start losing the first game 2-1.

In the second game they bounced back and drew 2-2.

The third and final game saw the players turn up the heat and won 7-2.

With a better goal difference the Leominster club came away with the winners trophy.

The club are taking part in a host of fundraising initiatives to raise funds for the club and manager Kelly is embarking on an Aerobic Flight on Saturday at Shobdon.

The club are appealing for any companies willing to help by sponsoring a kit or helping towards transport costs for competitions.
