WORCESTERSHIRE fought back with the ball after a batting collapse gave Gloucestershire a modest 115 target.

The Specsavers County Championship Division Two promotion-chasers slumped to 54-4 from 29 overs after tight and disciplined home bowling at Blackfinch New Road during a day of 20 wickets.

A quick eighth-wicket partnership of 62 wrestled the initiative away from the County in the morning to earn Gloucestershire a first-innings advantage of 14.

Worcestershire crashed to 33-5 and were eventually bowled out for 128 in 39.5 overs in their second innings.

County all-rounder Ed Barnard took 6-42 from 14.2 overs after adding three more victims to his overnight tally as the visitors, who resumed on 87-4, were dismissed for 235.

Barnard broke a stand of 72 in 24 overs between Ben Charlesworth (21) and Gareth Roderick (40) with the pair both lbw.

He also held a catch at gulley off Jack Taylor (4) from Dillon Pennington's bowling.

Ryan Higgins (42) and David Payne launched the counter-attack before skipper Joe Leach collected two wickets in consecutive balls.

Barnard returned to bowl Payne (43) and end the innings.

The County's slump in reply saw Payne trap Daryl Mitchell lbw for a golden duck.

Jack Haynes made a breezy 20 but was caught behind and Higgins removed Alex Milton lbw for another golden duck.

Riki Wessels (5) was bowled by Payne and Ben Cox (1) fell to Higgins.

Josh Shaw removed Barnard (6) lbw and opener Hamish Rutherford (19) got run out after a mix-up with Leach.

It became 85-8 when Pennington (6) was Shannon Gabriel’s first victim and Leach (10) fell to Higgins (4-34) after tea.

Charlie Morris (29 not out) and Adam Finch added 38 for the last wicket before Gabriel castled the latter.

The wickets still tumbled in Gloucestershire's second innings.

James Bracey (2) nicked Leach to Cox and Tom Smith (5) was lbw to Morris before Finch sent back Chris Dent (22) lbw and Roderick (0) for a duck.
