WORCESTER Warriors Women have appointed England under 20s head coach Jo Yapp as skills coach.

Yapp, who played at scrum-half for Worcester and captained England as a player, has been head coach of Exeter University Women.

She led Exeter to back-to-back BUCS titles and the BUCS Sevens Championship this summer.

The 39-year-old sister of former Warriors fly-half Tony Yapp guided England under 20s, including five Worcester players, to the Tri-Nations Cup Championship in July.

Director of rugby Roy Davies looks to build on the form which saw Warriors claim their first wins in the Tyrrells Premier 15s.

“Jo has relocated back to the area and as soon as I was aware of this I was exceptionally keen to add her expertise to our programme,” Davies said.

“Having worked closely with her to manage under 20s players over the last three years I’m fully aware of her ethos on player development and her record at Exeter University speaks for itself.

“The fact she is a club legend with a strong emotional attachment to the club is also very important as we look to progress within the TP15s.”

Yapp, who hails from Shropshire, is also looking forward to returning to her rugby roots.

“I am really excited to be involved with Warriors. This club gave me so much as a player and to be able to come back and be involved as a coach is something I feel privileged to do,” she said.

“Warriors are a young and talented team and I am really looking forward to working with both the players and staff.”
