WESTFIELDS ran riot in the Hellenic Bluefin Challenge Cup as they secured an emphatic 8-0 win over Swindon Robins in the first round.

The Fields' management made eight changes from the team that went through in their midweek FA Cup tie against Congleton Town introducing a number of players to give them match time.

Despite the changes Westfields produced a polished display from start to finish with Joe Bates netting a second half hat-trick.

Fields started the goal-fest inside the opening 10 minutes with Ben Hayes netting after Bates opened up the defence.

Adam Wakeley marked his Fields debut with a goal before Billy Murphy chipped a penalty to make it three.

Saw Rawlings added a fourth before the break and it could have been more, but for some fine saves.

Bates turned from creator to scorer in the second half netting a hat-trick.

Finally Sam Gwynne added insult to injury by making it eight and Westfields marched into the next round.

Phil Glover's side are now looking forward to their busy Bank Holiday weekend which includes an important FA Cup Preliminary Round tie against visiting Lutterworth Town from Leicestershire on Saturday at allpay.park and then a league local derby on Monday when they host Forest of Dean side Lydney Town, both kick-off at 3pm.

Lydney Town are managed by former Fields striker Richard Kear and are currently enjoying a good start to the new season.
