HEREFORD & County Athletics Club took a consistent third place finish when they hosted the fourth round of the Midland Track and Field League Division 6.

The result leaves Hereford third in the league behind Kettering and the Forest of Dean but well ahead of five other teams.

There were first places in all four women's throwing events which was backed up by two firsts and a second in the `B` competitions.

Ruth Wells won the Shot Put with a throw of 8.43 metres and the Javelin with 22.52m.

Meanwhile, she was second in the Discus only beaten by her team-mate Cara Bennett leaving Cara to win with 26.36m and Ruth first 'B' with

23.08m and Ruth was second `B` in the Hammer Throw behind Hannah Barnes who won with 26.58m.

Bennett was also first `B` in the Shot Put with 7.05m, she was also fourth in the Long Jump with 4.03m.

In the women`s High Jump Polly Maynard-Watkins was second with a high of 1.40m backed up by Tiffany Bramley first `B` with 1.30m.

Maynard-Watkins was also second in the Triple Jump with 9.37m.

In the sprints Darcie Jones was third in the 100 metres clocking in 13.2 seconds while Ellie Brown was third `B` in 13.5.

Chloe Flight was fourth in the 200m in 28.5

and in the 400m she was second in 70.9, while Bramley was second `B` in 76.4.

Despite falling in the 4x100m Bramley regained her feet to help the team finish fourth in 59.9.

In the men's event Ben Thompson was fifth in the 100m in 12.4 and second `B` in the 200m in 25.1. Taylor Gittens was third in the 200m 'A' race in 23.9.

Meanwhile in the 400m Zach McGrillen ran 56.7 for second.

Brian Morgan took fifth in the 800m and 3,000m before going one better for fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Kevin Barnes ran the 800m for 3rd`B` in 3.39.8, the 1500m in 7.27.0 for 3rd`B`, the 3000m for 5th`B` in 15.40.4 and the 3000m steeplechase in 15.40.4 for 3rd`B`

Pat Morgan took second in the 1,500m in 4:34.2, cleared 1.60m in the High Jump for fourth and throw the Javelin 36.38m for second.

Marc Flannery long jumped 5.85m for third, cleared 2.40m for equal second in the Pole Vault, was second in both the Shot Put with 9.82m and Discus with 24.36m and was fifth `B` in the Javelin with 19.41m.

Taylor Gittens was third in the triple jump with 12.34m while Graham Hazlegreaves put the shot 7.31m for second `B` and threw the hammer 19.42m for fourth `A`.

Meanwhile, Kevin Barnes threw the Discus 11.21m for fourth `B` and he was also fourth`B` in the Hammer with 15.49m.

The 4x100m team finished fourth in 50.6.
