OVER 170 motocross riders from across the country descended on Pontrilas recently for a weekend of racing.

Cumbria Twinshock Club hosted round five of the Toughsheet National Twinshock Championships at Pontrilas Motocross Track.

A packed programme of 21 races on each day took place with the event supported by Phil Denton Engineering from Llanwrst.

Whilst many other race meets were rained off, the sun was out all weekend at Pontrilas.

The track team had worked hard to prepare the track and minimise the dust by watering and grading throughout the night at the long hillside track off the A465 Hereford to Abergavenny Road.

Notable local successes include Matt Rudd who was second in the MRH Consultants 125 Twinshock class, and Clayton Hogg who was sixth in the Woody Vintage Off Road Honda Evolution.

The Black Art Tuning Clubman class provided some thrilling races across the weekend and it was Danny Braddick who took the overall victory thanks parts to three wins on the Sunday.

Meanwhile, four wins over two days helped Jamie Dobson win the Woodys Vintage Honda Evo Open class.

Despite a crash in the last race Jimmy Margetson dominated the Wulfsport Experts class.

Pontrilas Motocross Track is open for practice sessions on Wednesday August 14 and 28, welcoming riders of all abilities, from 3pm until 7.30pm.
