HEREFORD Head Coach Marc Richards said he will have a selection ‘headache’ as his side prepare for their first National League North game against Spennymoor on Saturday.

The Bulls fielded a 21-man squad in their 1-0 victory over Aston Villa Under-23s and Richards said they had given him some selection headaches ahead of the new season.

“It was a really good test a week away from the start of the season and I thought they shifted the ball really well,” said Richards.

“It was really competitive and it felt realistic in terms of a competitive league game. I think they boys will have got through some serious mileage today.

“I’m really pleased to get a positive result and there was spells today which were really encouraging.

“It has given me a massive headache which is exactly what I want. Some of the lads that have come off the bench today shows that strength in depth in the squad that we want, it’s not far off.

The Bulls are also set to sign one of the three trialists who were in the squad against Aston Villa Under-23s.

One of the trialists is believed to be 25-year-old former Manchester United youngster Raheem Hanley.

“I think we might be there with one,” added Richards.

“Potentially they will be in Tuesday and Thursday and we will see where we’re at for the Spennymoor game.”
