GOLFERS at Kington Golf Club have been busy winning a host of open and club competitions.

Club Captain Phil Jones won the 36-holes Kington Open.

In tough, windy conditions Jones shot a net 140. Meanwhile, Wyndham Evans scored a net 67 to take the Madigan Cup for the best morning round.

Kington Golf Club Champion for 2019 is Ryan Hotchkiss.

His winning gross score was 145 over the two days 36-holes event.

Kelvin Alexander took the prize for best net score of 133 off his 8 handicap.

Club Captain Phil Jones presented the prizes to the winners.

Pairing Ruth and Kelvin Alexander have had a successful season and were recently crowned Herefordshire County Mixed Champions.

They added the trophy to their Haylings Trophy and Bradnor Plate honours at their home club.

The County Mixed is a foursomes medal competition and the Alexanders won with a net 70 at Kington Golf Club.

The sisters pairing of Carolyn Jones (KGC) and Jan Bowen (BVGC) won the Kington Ladies Pairs Open at their 16th attempt.

Their score of 48 points beat Anita Dart (KGC) and Pip Frost (The Worcestershire) into second with 45 points.

Some 60 players took part from nine different clubs in the competition with some travelling from as far as Bristol to play at Kington.

The course was recently listed by Golf Empire Top 20 in UK golf courses under 6,000 yards.
