AN all-round performance by Hamish Cooke helped Burghill, Tillington and Weobley to a narrow four-run victory over Bromyard denting their promotion hopes.

Cooke led the way with the bat for the hosts hitting 82 runs including 13 fours and a six during his innings before eventually falling to the bowling of Zahid Saeed (4-25).

Cooke was supported by an unbeaten 38 by skipper Owen Morgan helping them to a target of 219.

In reply wicket keeper Ian Bullock lost his wicket early to James Burston (4-44) before Nick Leighton (25) and Edd Oliver (24) steadied the ship for the visitors.

Bromyard looked to be comfortably heading to their target when Rob Willis hit a half-century and

Gregory Leighton with 30.

However, in the last over Bromyard fell just four runs short of their target when Toby Whitmarsh caught the final wicket.

Meanwhile Colwall surrendered their 16-point lead at the top of Worcestershire League Division One, as they crashed to a sorry 49-run defeat at Coombs Wood.

Facing what seemed a routine challenge of making 124 to win having won the toss and elected to field, Colwall were then skittled for just 74 runs in the space of just 17.1 overs in an ignominious batting collapse which allowed Hagley to join them at the top of the table.

On a day of batting collapses Bartestree & Lugwardine could only muster 62 runs while chasing a target of 337-6 against Ombersley seconds.

Despite George Mokler hitting a half-century Brockhampton seconds’ total of 119 was easily hit by Himley seconds.

Eastnor didn’t have similar problems as they recorded 136-run victory over Alvechurch & Hopwood.
