COLWALL cruised through to the regional rounds of the National Village Cup with a crushing 102-run victory over Aston Ingham at Stowe Lane on Sunday.

The contest, which had been washed out the previous week, was again affected by the bad weather with showers restricting the game to 20 overs per side.

Having been asked to bat first Colwall amassed a daunting total of 162-6 before restricting the visitors to 60-9 in reply.

Ben Febery and Ben Cooke gave the hosts a solid start adding 39 for the first wicket before the latter was caught for 19 and when Ben Wheeler was run out soon after, it caused a brief middle order collapse.

Febery, who hit a six and six fours kept the innings together as he hit 54 before holing out in the deep.

At 104-6 Colwall were in need of quick runs going into the last five overs.

James Wagstaff and Matt Morgan were on hand and took the visiting attack to task with an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 58, Wagstaff hitting three big sixes in his unbeaten 33, while Morgan added another in reaching 24 not out.

Aston Ingham, fielding a youthful side were never in the hunt in reply, only Josh Loade (12) and James Hamilton (15) reached double figures as they struggled to cope with the home bowlers.

Wagstaff, Febery and Fergus Cameron all claimed two wickets for Colwall, while there was one each for Mike Gooch, Jack Knight-Adams and Morgan as the visitors folded to 60-9.
