OVER £900 was raised for charity during a match which celebrated 175 years of Kington Cricket Club.
Kington Old Boys took on Kington Cricket Club 'Anniversarians' in the celebratory match.
The former 'Old Boys' side posted 178 off 35 overs which was enough for victory as their coposition fell short in the chase.
Many former players, officials and local residents enjoyed a great afternoon's entertainment and an evening's reminiscences, not least of the 1993 Village Cup victory at Lord's.
The event raised £939 for Cancer Research, £500 of which was from Harper Group Construction Ltd.
An auction for a Worcestershire Rapids signed shirt raised £150.
That's not the end of the anniversary year fun as Kington and Presteigne will meet twice in the Anniversary week.
They will first meet on Friday, July 12, at Kington and then six days later on the Anniversary day, the inaugural match having been played at Presteigne in 1844, the sides will meet for the return fixture on Thursday, July 18.
