JONATHON Devereux (Herefordshire Golf Club) held off some stiff opposition to become Men's County Champion for 2019.

Competing on his home course Devereux took victory with gross scores of 72+70=142, beating Cameron Probert by one shot.

Probert, playing for Burghill Valley GC, was one shot ahead of his rival after the opening round before a second round charge from Devereux clinched the win.

Probert pushed for victory until the end but finished second on 71+72=143.

Fellow Burghill GC player Liam Williams was third on 147 while Jamie Mee, from Leominster, took fourth place with 151.

Neil Greening was a clear winner in the Nett section with 66+71=137.

The fight for second place was an all Herefordshire GC affair with team-mates Jon Williams and Glyn Biffen inseparable with both finishing on 139.

Williams eventually took second on count back while another one of their Herefordshire GC team-mates Will Skinner took fourth on 142.

Burghill Valley GC won the Team Trophy with a total 441 Gross.

The winning team consisted of Ed Morley, Cameron Probert and Liam Williams.

l The ladies of the Herefordshire GC enjoy another excellent result in the second match of the Droitwich League.

Their latest match saw them come away with a convincing four-and-a-half points to a half point victory against Fulford Heath.

The win meant that the ladies earned another three points on the league table which sees them at the top of their division.

l Lady golfers from across the county recently descended on Ross Golf Club for the Ladies Senior Open Competition.

Despite the wet weather, a visiting team made 75 points to win the competition.

The Ross club's Millenium Trophy and Club Stableford was won by Erika Atkins with 37 points and the Coronation Club Foursomes was won by Sally Fycun and Sue Johnson with 32 points.

The winner of The Rosebowl and Club Medal was Ruth Pimlow with 72 points. Meanwhile Mary Smith and Jennifer Freel won the Ping Four Ball Better B Competition with a score of 44 points.
