HEREFORDSHIRE motocross riders will be heading across the county border to compete in the popular Rhayader MC Evening Motocross Series on Wednesday (May 29).

The hillside track of St. Harmon, just outside Rhayader will host the Welsh Open Motocross Championship event.

With practice at 5.45pm and the first race at 6.45pm there an eleven-race programme, three races per group, Pro/Experts, Seniors/Veterans and Juniors/Beginners, with the popular Grand Final “dash for cash” race at the end of the evening for the top 125/250f & Open Experts on the night.

The course which is friendly for spectators includes a downhill ski jump, wall of death berm and the infamous 65 foot finish line table top jump as well as a new 125ft uphill triple jump and rhythm section.

The national-class entry taking part includes top UK GP star Shaun Simpson and former Evening Motocross champion Brad Anderson as well as Rob Hooper’s Yamaha team of Taylor Hammal & Ryan Houghton.

Also staring are Simpsons RFX team mates Charlie Putman and Joel Rizzi, who will hoping to field a strong challenge.

Also making the trip to Cwmythig is young Dominic Lancett, from Withington.

Entry fee is just £5.00 for adults while children under-14s are free. Cwmythig Hill will be well signposted from Rhayader.
