DOUBLE-WINNING Ludlow Town Colts boss Scott Mackenzie paid tribute to his side for ensuring they ended the season as the Herefordshire League’s ‘Invincibles’.

Colts completed their Division One title-winning campaign with a 3-3 draw at Holme Lacy Reserves, preserving their unbeaten record throughout the entire league season.

Mackenzie, whose side won 16 and drew six of their 22 games to win the league by 14 points, said: “I am so proud of what they have achieved.

“Since Christmas, we have not been at our best but their fighting spirit, commitment and attitude has been beyond question. They have dug deep in every game.”

Ludlow again had to dig deep at Holme Lacy, twice coming from behind to lead 3-2 with headers from Jack Marston, Nathan Priday and Mark Tonkinson.

Holme Lacy responded with Ryan Rowlett, Jean Luc Alvarez and Liam Campbell all netting.

Ludlow's day was slightly soured with the harsh late dismissal of veteran Tonkinson, in what could be his last game for Ludlow, with Lacy scoring the resultant penalty to share the spoils.
