BROCKHAMPTON sit bottom of the Birmingham and District League Premier Division Two following a heavy 147-run defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton.

After winning the toss The Parks side put their visitors in to bat and had some early success as the combination of Chris Watts bowling and Nicholas Powell catching took two early wickets at 37-2.

However, a knock of 47 by Rahul Kaushal saw the visitors recover to 123-4 before an unbeaten century by Will Neild set a big target of 268-4 off 50 overs.

In response an opening partnership of Adam Hewlett (17) and Oliver Rogoff put on 21 for the first wicket before the hosts lost three wickets in quick succession.

That included overseas international Param Uppal who fell for a duck off his first ball of competitive cricket in Herefordshire.

Captain Nick Powell steadied the ship with 45 runs off 82 balls but wickets continued to fall around him and by the time he lost his wicket the hosts were down to 105-8 and his side were eventually bowled out for 121 off 39.1 overs.

The result leaves Brockhampton bottom of the league after three defeats and 14 points adrift of third from bottom Halesowen.
