HEREFORD RFC showed their fitness and despite playing almost half an hour with 14 men they ran away 35-12 winners over Old Halesonians

The victory, which saw the hosts score three second half tries, was the Wyesiders fourth league double of the season.

A tight first half saw the sides evenly matched until a well worked move saw Tom Ewins off-load to Perry Pudge for the opening try.

In a 20-minute spell in the second half, the Wyesiders handling rugby paid dividends and they added four more tries to earn a try bonus.

Tom Starkey ran over the second score before the hosts were awarded a penalty try to give them a 21-0 lead.

The game could have turned on the 57th minute when Luke Fisher was awarded a controversial red card for a tackle in mid-field.

However, the Wyesiders rallied with both Leon Parsons and Bryn Goodall running over while the latter also scored four conversions as they took a 35-0 lead.

Tiredness in the final minutes contributed to Old Halesonians registering a brace of consolation tries to take the final score to 35 points to 12.

Head Coach, Sean Lynn said: "It was a very good result today and from a coach’s point of view I’m very happy, it was an excellent display.

"We knew going in at half-time seven points up, that we had to gain good territory and to pick up points from there.

"Bryn Goodall was outstanding, he showed very good control with his kicking game, Leon Parsons and Levi Hughes were excellent and Richard Jones was outstanding.

"Tom Ewins led from the front as he always does and it was great to have the bonus point win at home."
