HEREFORD duo Ken Davis and Alan Jones walked away with a class victory at last weekend's Rally North Wales in the KGD Services backed Volvo Amazon.

The Dolgellau based event used eight stages in the classic Dyfi Forestry complex, which was bathed in glorious spring sunshine.

The opening round of the Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship attracted a high quality entry.

But the Quick Motorsport run car never missed a beat and finished 36th overall and first in class.

Ludlow's Joe Price with Chris Brookes got his championship campaign off to an excellent start with a superb drive to take third overall in his Escort RS1800.

The talented Price was embroiled in a terrific battle with Irishman Stanley Orr, on the opening loop before pulling away in the afternoon.

Rallying returnee Jon Perrott teamed up with Andrew Sankey in the immaculate Perrott Building Services Escort RS1600.

The Leominster builder started steadily after a long lay off, in the highly competitive category and arrived in service locked in a three-way battle for second in class, with Warren Philliskirk and Chris Skill, with category leader Stanley Orr well in front.

But the afternoon loop Perrott began to blow away the cobwebs and pulled away from his rivals, to finish 11th overall and second in class.

The overall historic event was won by local duo Osian Pryce and Dale Furniss in the G&M Pryce Builders Escort RS1800, after totally dominating the event to win by 37 seconds.
